Gems : Tanzanite A very recent addition to the gemstone family, tanzanite is a form of zoisite, which was discovered in Austria in the late 18th or early 19th Century by Sigmund von Zois, who gave it its name. However, tanzanite was only discovered in 1967, in Tanzania (hence the name). It is a beautiful blue to purple colour, rivaling the very best Siberian Amethyst. |
