Gems : Moissanite

A new addition to the Diamond Simulant group, moissanite aims to supplant Cubic Zirconia as the most popular diamond lookalike. On some older testing equipment, it actually tests as a diamond, but a few moments with a lens or microscope will quickly spot the difference. It also turns yellow when heated, even by a gas lighter. Fortunately this change is not permanent, but it scared a few jewellery workshops when it first appeared!
