Gems : Coral

Most gemstones are formed from inorganic substances, but several come from organic sources – plants or animals. Coral is an organic gemstone, the "skeleton" formed by the individual plant-like animals called polyps that make up a colony.
Coral is usually red or pink, but white and black are also known.
Coral is usually polished en cabochon, or into beads, but is also often carved.
